Keeping Faith in an Age of Reason: Refuting Alleged Bible Contradictions- Dr Jason Lisle
“You can’t trust the Bible it is full of hundreds of contradictions.”

Was Abraham justified by faith or by works? Romans 4:2 – says by faith VS. James 2:21 – says by works
Bifurcation fallacy. Abraham was justified both by faith and by works (James 2:24, 26). To “justify” means either to be in right moral standing or to show that one is (morally) in right standing. Abraham was justified by faith before God since God knows all things including Abraham’s faith (James 2:23). God sees our hearts (1 Samuel 16:7), so we are justified before God by our faith alone, which God can see. But men cannot see another man’s faith. They only see the outward works that follow from inward faith. Therefore, Abraham was justified before men by the works that followed from his faith, since men cannot see faith but can see works. James explicitly teaches this (James 2:18 26).
How to Read the Bible “Literally”- Bill Foster
From the popular culture’s perspective, reading the Bible “literally” is something that only naïve, uneducated Christians do because they lack awareness of current scientific interpretations of our world, or cannot accept 21st-century social sensibilities. However, this aspersion itself lacks understanding of what it means to read the Bible – or any other work – literally.
This guide will not only clarify what it means to read the Bible literally, but will also lead you through examples of biblical passages that have been misread (some famously) and explain what has gone wrong with the interpretation. You will learn five tools for how to read the Bible accurately, including understanding how to recognize figures of speech, how to be aware of context, and how doctrinal considerations apply.
How the Bible Works- Bill Foster
Were you ever taught in church how to see the big picture of the Bible? Almost no one is. We spend a lot of time learning how we should apply it to our lives but are almost never shown how things fit together in the book. Many see it as a bunch of unconnected stories – a random collection of disjointed information.
Consequently, we remain ignorant about the Bible’s divinely inspired connectedness – how it fits together theologically, historically, and literarily. How motivated would you be to put together a puzzle if you were only given certain pieces but never shown the complete picture on the box top?
How The Bible Works uses groups and icons to help you remember pivotal elements in the Bible, lead you through its content and theological concepts, and show you how things are connected.
